Surgical Errors

All surgeries involve risks. Patients must sign consent forms before surgical procedures stating that the patient is aware of the known risks and complications that may occur. However, surgical errors go beyond the known risks of surgery and can be a result of human error. The patient cannot consent to negligence. Nor should the medical provider escape responsibility by a form signed by a patient.

Surgical errors can be avoided. Victims of surgical errors face a lifetime of challenges from ever-growing expenses to inability to return to a comparable quality of life, to multiple surgeries, and possibly even resulting in death.
