Errores de anestesia

There are three main types of anesthesia: local, regional and general. The type of anesthesia used for a surgical procedure is determined by the type and length of the surgery.

When someone considers surgery, among the greatest concerns is an error in anesthesia. Most of us have heard stories of someone going in for a relatively simple surgery and dying on the operating table or being seriously injured by anesthesia errors.

The risk associated with the anesthesia is often more dangerous than the actual surgery itself. The smallest error by the anesthesiologist can result in permanent injury, brain damage, coma or even death.

Anesthesia mistakes we handle include:

Failing to review the patient’s medical history
Failing to review restrictions with the patient immediately before surgery
Failure to adequately monitor the patient
Giving too much or too little anesthetic medication
Using defective equipment or devices to administer anesthesia
Not providing oxygen properly during surgery
Administering an incorrect anesthesia drug
